Vaginoplasty Revision

We perform many vaginoplasty revisions for patients that have had surgery elsewhere. The most common revisions are aesthetic concerns, removal of residual erectile tissue and depth and width revisions on patients who are unhappy with their current vaginal canal.

Specific areas of concern

1. Lack of labia minora/clitoral hood – we can shape labia minora/clitoral hood in surgery with various techniques
2. Lack of depth/width – we first reopen the vaginal space and remove scar tissue. In order to avoid abdominal incisions/need to take your own skin for a graft, we use allograft (decellularized cadaveric skin) to line the space. This is a scaffold which has no cells. Your own cells grow into this tissue and replace it over the first few months. The advantages of this are that it is very stretchable, there are no donor cells (no antirejection medication needed), no donor site is needed from yourself and it tends to be a less painful surgery.
3. Labia majora issues – we can add volume with fat grafting, decrease volume with excision and revise any unsightly scars
4. Buried clitoris – we can bring the clitoris to the surface
5. Residual erectile tissue – can be removed during surgery
6. Urinary issues/stenosis – a urethoplasty can be performed
