What is facial feminization?
The first thing most people see is your face. This creates the first impression and is often a source of stress for patients worried about being misgendered. Facial feminization is a procedure or combination of procedures to make your facial features more feminine to improve your dysphoria and decrease the chances of you being called by the wrong pronouns. Each surgery is customized since some patients don’t require any surgery and some patients may benefit from multiple procedures. We will assess your features, discuss what areas bother you and give recommendations.
Will insurance cover the surgery?
With a few exceptions, most insurances do not cover facial feminization. You can review your plan booklet. We can give you a quote for surgery at the time of your consultation.
What procedures are available?
There are many procedures that can be used solo or in conjunction. Most commonly the procedures used in facial feminization are: brow bone reduction with or without hairline advancement/browlift, rhinoplasty (nose job), chin reduction, mandibular angle reduction (square jaw), cheek augmentation, and lip augmentation or lip lift.
