Tear Troughs
A dermal filler like Restylane can be used to add volume and smooth the contour of the under eye. Tear trough filler is not a magic eraser to remove dark circles. However, in most cases, once lifted and supported the skin then drapes more smoothly allowing light to reflect better. This results in the eyes appearing lighter and brighter.
Dark circles can be the result of genetics, aging, allergies, and diet. There is no one size fits all solution. Your goals and anatomy are taken into consideration and together a plan of care is determined. Sometimes treatment involves neurotoxin, laser, and prescription topicals for lightening. In some cases, a surgical procedure is the ideal choice.
What should I expect after under eye treatment with an HA?
Under eye swelling may take up to 2 weeks to resolve therefore, touch ups are not usually made until after the 2 week mark.
Neurotoxin: (branded under the names Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeveau) can be used by injection to relax muscles to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It may also be used preventatively to stop lines from forming. Botulinum toxin type A typically lasts between 3 and 5 months in the upper face depending on the dose and brand.
