Meet Dr. Praful Ramineni
Dr. Ramineni is the founder of District Plastic Surgery. He is a board certified plastic surgeon who has been performing surgery for over 20 years. He has performed over 15,000 surgeries. He started his career as one of the busiest surgeons at Medstar Washington Hospital Center where he was the Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department. He performed a variety of complex reconstructive and aesthetic surgery including cancer and trauma surgery, microsurgery, gender affirmation surgery, and aesthetic surgery. As a clinical professor for Georgetown University Plastic Surgery, he taught over 100 residents, medical students and other surgeons. He transitioned to private practice nearly 10 years ago to provide a better patient experience. He has been voted a Washingtonian Top doctor over 10 times and has been a Castle Connolly top doctor for multiple years.Education and Training
Dr. Ramineni grew up in upstate New York where he developed a love of medicine from his father. He was then accepted straight out of high school to a very competitive 6 year combined undergraduate/medical school program where he completed his undergraduate studies in only 2 years. During medical school he graduated at the top of his class and scored in the top 1% of the country on his medical licensing exams. He was inducted into the AOA medical school honor society. He was then accepted into one of the integrated residency programs in the country at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He completed his training with multiple awards of distinction and highest exam scores. He move to Washington, DC in 2007 to begin his career in plastic surgery.
Surgical Expertise
Dr. Ramineni performs the entire gamut of plastic surgery. He has a special interest in gender affirmation surgery, aesthetic surgery, post weight loss surgery and reconstructive surgery. Aesthetic surgical procedures performed include mommy makeovers, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast augmentation with implants and fat, mastopexy (breast lift), breast reduction, liposuction, buttock augmentation with fat (BBL), brachioplasty (arm lift), thigh lift, back lift, face and neck lift surgery, eye lid surgery and rhinoplasty (nasal surgery). Gender affirmation procedures include vaginoplasty (over 100 performed per year), Top surgery (over 200 per year), orchiectomy, facial feminization and masculinization procedures, body feminization/masculinization, and revisional surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes breast cancer reconstruction, skin cancer removal, post traumatic reconstruction and revisional surgery.
